Welcome To My Vintage Racing Page

I have been the owner of this 1931 Ford 5-window Coupe early modified since October of 2004. It took me six years to finish the process of restoring this race car to its early 1960's vintage era.  I had this car on display for the first time at the local York Dirt-Trackin' Show in January, 2006. However, the actual first track time on dirt was at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds on the weekend of August 14-15, 2010. My coupe restoration was finished by Emlet Racing and Fabrication. Many thanks to Greg Emlet, Sr. for helping me with this project.

1931 Ford 5-window Coupe

vintage 1960 era

early modified dirt track racer

The above photo is from my very first track time event driving my racer at the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds on August 14-15, 2010. Other photos of my vintage racer can be found on the Photo Pages.

As a kid growing up in the 1960's, I was hooked on dirt track racing. My father took me and my brothers to Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA just about every Saturday night. My favorite drivers back then, as I remember, were Neil Haight's #88, Bobby Hersh's #39, Johnny Roberts' #8, Paul Miller's #133, Bobby Abel's #2, and Kenny Weld's #91. These particular drivers and others from the 1960's have given me the inspiration to become the owner of a vintage dirt track race car similar to the time period when I started my interest in racing. I also want to thank my favorite sprint car drivers of today Cory Haas (and his dad, Larry), Greg Hodnett, Brian Leppo, thundercar drivers Nat Tuckey, Jim Martz Jr, Jim Rost, and Greg Emlet, Jr. as well as fellow vintage racers Terry Myers and Scott White for keeping the spirit of dirt track racing alive in me today.  Since getting the bug to go vintage dirt track racing about 10 years ago, I have now gained a whole new appreciation and respect for auto racing on dirt, both yesteryear and today.

This racer was originally registered #140 with the Williams Grove Old Timers organization in 1983 at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, Latimore Valley Fairgrounds, Pennsylvania.  I re-registered the car in 2006 with the EMMR/WGOT as registration #484.

I have no photos or other documentation of the history of this race car prior to 1981. I believe that someone may have started building this race car in the early 1960's but never finished it. I am interested in hearing from anyone who may have knowledge or documentation of this car's history before 1981.

This is what the car looked like in 1981 at Mt. Wolf, PA. When I purchased the race car in October of 2004, it was still painted all red with no number or lettering on it.  After sanding down the paint on the doors, I found that there was a #48 on this car at one time.
